Reuters reported that Astra Space is seeking to raise $250m at a $1bn valuation, in a round expected to close in the same quarter, to fund Rocket 4 development and expand satellite propulsion work for defence missions. The company was taken private in 2024 and has not launched since the Rocket 3 series.
On 10 August 2026 Alphabet closed an underwritten public offering of $25 billion of US dollar-denominated senior notes off its June 2026 Form S-3 shelf (File No. 333-296395), under the February 2016 BNY Mellon indenture. Ten tranches were issued: $750m floating rate due 2028, $1.25bn 4.500% due 2028, $500m floating rate due 2029, $2.0bn 4.625% due 2029, $3.5bn 4.875% due 2031, $2.5bn 5.200% due 2033, $4.5bn 5.450% due 2036, $3.0bn 6.250% due 2046, $4.5bn 6.375% due 2056 and $2.5bn 6.500% due 2066. Coupons of 6.25-6.50% at the long end are notably high for an AA-rated issuer and show the price of raising this much duration at once. Combined with the May euro, Canadian dollar and yen offerings (roughly $21bn) and the June $49.6bn net equity and mandatory convertible raise, Alphabet has taken in well over $95bn of external capital in four months, against a $40bn at-the-market equity programme still undrawn - the clearest single measure of what frontier AI infrastructure now costs.
In a July 31 SEC filing, Amazon confirmed it invested the remaining $21.3B of its $50B OpenAI commitment (after $15B in Q1 and $13.7B in Q2), completing the round announced Feb 27. As part of the deal, AWS becomes the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI's Frontier program, with prior infrastructure agreements that could total $100B over eight years.
CFS announced (Jul 30) $1B in new equity, bringing total raised to ~$4B and roughly 30% of all private fusion investment globally — its largest single round since the $1.8B Series B in 2021. Notably the backers are pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and infrastructure investors, a first for the fusion industry, signalling a shift toward treating fusion as an infrastructure-grade bet. Axios reported that Colossal was in discussions for a new funding round valuing the de-extinction company at $20bn to $30bn, against the $10.2bn it achieved in its $200m Series C and the $10.3bn carried after a $120m dodo-specific raise in September 2025. Total capital raised to date is roughly $555m; no round has been confirmed as closed.
Lowercarbon Capital joined Focused Energy's Series A financing round, adding to the $240 million raised in May 2026. Focused Energy describes the round as the largest fully secured Series A in the global fusion industry.

On 11 June 2026 CFS announced that Plynth Energy, an Abu Dhabi government-owned early-stage fund founded in 2024 to focus on fusion technologies and fusion supply-chain expansion, had acquired a minority stake in the company. No investment amount, valuation or ownership percentage was disclosed, and the release stated only that both parties would explore future collaboration. The significance is the investor class rather than the size: a sovereign-owned fund entering the cap table seven weeks before CFS closed a $1B round that it described as the first fusion round led by pension and sovereign funds.
