Anthropic has signed a cloud-computing deal worth about $35 billion with Lambda, the Nvidia-backed AI cloud provider, according to the Wall Street Journal, with Reuters carrying the report the same day. The WSJ reports that Nvidia holds the lease on the Texas data centre involved. Astrum Space Inc, a satellite-to-device broadcast operator for Asia-Pacific, disclosed in its SPAC business-combination announcement with Black Spade Acquisition III Co that it has contracted launch and orbital-delivery services from Impulse Space for its SWISSto12-manufactured NEASTAR-1 satellite, targeting a late-2028 to first-quarter-2029 launch. SHINE said it is collaborating with DOE's Argonne National Laboratory and Case Western Reserve University to apply chemical separation technology to the nuclear fuel recycling process it is developing, conducted through ARPA-E's CURIE Program with additional funding led by Case Western Reserve, where SHINE participates as a subcontractor. Argonne is developing equipment called PaCERS (Packed Centrifugal Equipment for Radiochemical Separation), which spins fast enough to generate centrifugal forces beyond ordinary gravity to increase chemical separation efficiency — a higher-throughput, lower-solvent approach. SHINE is working to apply PaCERS to separation processes including those recovering strontium-90 and americium-241 for medical, manufacturing and advanced power uses, and to minor actinide recovery. SHINE said it is working with GE Vernova on an ARPA-E-funded project to develop a modernised system for tracking spent fuel through the recycling process, led by GE Vernova's Advanced Research Center. The project aims to use AI to optimise spent nuclear fuel tracking and measurement at recycling facilities, developing technology called MAYER (Monochromatic Assays Yielding Enhanced Reliability) intended to track and measure nuclear material in real time. As a GE Vernova subcontractor, SHINE is developing sensor deployment and AI-powered material-tracking systems so that material control and accountability can be designed into recycling facilities from the outset. SHINE CTO Ross Radel framed the goal as avoiding permanent cost and disruption from accountability requirements. No award value for SHINE's scope was disclosed.
