Precision Neuroscience partners with UChicago Medicine researchers on sensorimotor BCI and neuroprosthetics research
Precision Neuroscience Corporation and researchers at University of Chicago Medicine launched a clinical partnership covering two areas: AI-driven sensorimotor function and neuroprosthetics. The work uses Precision's Layer 7 high-density microelectrode array, whose FDA 510(k) clearance permits continuous high-resolution neural recording for up to 30 days. Dr Peter Warnke (director of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery) and Dr Charles Greenspon lead the UChicago Medicine Sensorimotor Bionics Group, which the release says has participated in human BCI investigation for more than a decade. The release states Precision had tested its device in more than 80 patients and raised $180 million to date. No financial terms of the partnership were disclosed. NOT flagged as a big event: this adds one academic research site to an existing clinical research network, with no disclosed economics and no clinical readout — same materiality gate applied to Insitro's BMS target expansion and Island's partnership announcements.
