The Information reported on the night of 26 August 2026, citing a person familiar with the matter, that Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face, the leading hub for open-source AI models and datasets, for about $12.9bn. Reuters, CNBC, Bloomberg, TechCrunch and Business Insider all carried the story on 27 August. The reported deal would place Nvidia in control of the dominant open-model distribution platform, alongside its existing 2023 partnership with Hugging Face on generative AI supercomputing. Nvidia has not announced the transaction, has issued no press release, and had filed no 8-K disclosing it as of 2 September 2026.

SoftBank Group is in negotiations to acquire a MAJORITY stake in OpenAI-backed humanoid developer 1X Technologies, in a deal that would value the company at roughly $6 billion. First reported by The Information on 26 Aug and independently carried by Reuters on 27 Aug. Two things make it material beyond the headline number. First, it would be a change of control of a roster company, not a growth round. Second, $6bn is a step DOWN from 1X's last share sale and well below the ~$10bn valuation it was reported to be seeking on a ~$1bn raise — while still far above the $820m it commanded in January 2025. The deal extends SoftBank's robotics push, following its agreement to acquire ABB's robotics unit. NOT consummated: this is a reported negotiation and may not close.

Iridium filed its definitive merger proxy (DEFM14A) and Rocket Lab filed the related 424B3 prospectus on 26 August 2026, finalising terms of the merger agreement signed 28 June 2026. Each Iridium share converts into $27.00 in cash plus Rocket Lab stock at an exchange ratio collared between 0.2400 shares (if Rocket Lab trades at or above $112.50) and 0.4000 shares (at or below $67.50); Rocket Lab has a committed $3.6 billion 364-day senior secured bridge facility. A virtual special meeting of Iridium stockholders is scheduled for 24 September 2026 at 8:30am ET, after which Iridium would become an indirect wholly owned Rocket Lab subsidiary.

Anthropic is in talks to buy Nvidia-backed Israeli AI startup Decart for about $6 billion, in what would be Anthropic's largest acquisition to date, aimed at making Claude run faster and more efficiently. Multiple outlets stress the deal is not finalized and talks could fall through.

Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (NASDAQ: DJT) filed a definitive merger proxy statement (DEFM14A) with the SEC on 13 July 2026 for its all-stock acquisition of TAE Technologies, eleven days after the preliminary version (PREM14A, 2 July 2026). A definitive proxy is the point at which the transaction goes to a shareholder vote, making this the most advanced procedural step to date toward TAE — a nearly 30-year-old private fusion company — obtaining a public listing. As of the end of August 2026 no Form 8-K reporting completion of the acquisition had been filed, so the transaction remained pending: the August 8-Ks carry items 2.02 (results) and 7.01 (Reg FD) only.

Rocket Lab agreed June 29 to acquire satellite communications operator Iridium for $54/share (~24% premium to Iridium's Jun 26 close), valuing it at $8 billion. The deal gives Rocket Lab Iridium's 66-satellite L-band constellation and rare global spectrum, moving it from launch/manufacturing into satellite services as an end-to-end 'self-launching' space company. Expected to close mid-2027 pending regulatory approval.

Firefly acquired Space-ng, adding autonomy software for on-orbit operations. A change of corporate control that expands Firefly's Elytra servicing and autonomous-operations capability in-house rather than by partnership.

Focused Energy announced plans to spin off SourceLight, moving its laser-based technology from cutting-edge research into an industrial commercial vehicle. Announced as an intention rather than a completed transaction.

Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG) entered an Agreement and Plan of Merger on June 1, 2026 to acquire lunar-lander company Astrobotic Technology for approximately $300M in a cash-and-stock combination. Announced June 2 (with a shareholder/analyst call), an 8-K was filed June 4 (Item 3.02). The acquisition is expected to close in Q3 2026, folding Astrobotic's Griffin/Peregrine lunar delivery and space infrastructure into Voyager.
