Relativity Space completes Terran R stage one structural qualification campaign

Company monthly report for July 2026. The stage one structural qualification test campaign is complete. The structural test stand, known internally as the Tender Loving Crusher, conducted lifecycle and burst pressure testing including 420 pressure cycles, 62 proof, stability and ultimate loading cases, and axial compression loading reaching 4.3 million pounds-force (19.4 million Newtons) while pressurised. The company states successful completion validates that the stage one tank is ready to withstand the loads of ground operations, launch and flight. The team released 1,130 flight parts and fully released the stage one shipping assembly, described as the culmination of more than two years of design work and marking full release of more than 11,000 stage one structures, fluids systems, avionics and harnesses. The first circumferential friction stir weld for a flight two tank was completed, and a carbon fibre composite panel was produced, laminated and cured in-house. The company also noted the US Space Force on-ramped Relativity into the National Security Space Launch Phase 3 Lane 1 programme in July.

Relativity Space Terran R second stage arrives at NASA Stennis; stage one structural qualification testing begins

Company monthly report for June 2026. Released 2,238 flight parts, including nearly all components required for the first stage shipping assembly. All vehicle structures and closeouts were completed on the stage one qualification article, which was handed off from manufacturing to factory test, transported using two heavy lift forklifts and lifted into the structural test stand, where qualification officially began with initial proof test cases successfully completed. The second stage arrived in Mississippi after moving through the Panama Canal to Gulfport, then by barge up the Pearl River to NASA Stennis. The exhaust diverter, measuring 97 feet (30 metres) and weighing 1.4 million pounds (635 metric tons), arrived on site and was installed on the A2 stage test stand ahead of the stage two hot fire campaign. Acceptance testing was completed for all flight-one Aeon R first stage engines.

Stoke Space completes Nova Stage 1 proto-qualification testing

Stoke Space said it had completed Stage 1 proto-qualification testing for Nova over a three-week campaign at its Moses Lake Test Site in Washington. The campaign verified 46 structural test objectives across the vehicle while also exercising fluid systems, avionics, software, ground systems and operational procedures, including cryogenic testing of the Stage 1 structure. The company described structural qualification as one of the most demanding phases of launch-vehicle development and the point at which new rockets most often reveal their hardest problems, noting that the industry has recently lost early flight tanks, interstages and other primary structures during qualification.

Relativity Space integrated Terran R second stage departs Long Beach for NASA Stennis

Teams finalised second stage integration including fluids systems, brackets, avionics, harnesses, valves and raceway hardware, then assembled transport fixtures, wrapped the vehicle and performed final checkouts before the stage left the factory and transited to the Port of Long Beach, where it was loaded onto a sea vessel bound for NASA Stennis. The company described the milestone as marking the beginning of the next phase of the Terran R programme. Installation began on the first outer engine liquid oxygen and fuel feedlines on the thrust structure. At NASA Stennis, teams completed the Aeon V second stage engine qualification campaign, hitting service life, duration and start milestones for flight one, and a test readiness review was held for stage one qualification.

Relativity Space completes manufacture of all flight-one Terran R first stage Aeon R engines

Company monthly Terran R progress report for April 2026. Released 2,055 flight parts with a concerted effort on the stage one shipping assembly. Second stage tank internals and structures are complete with avionics trays, boxes, harnesses and valves installed alongside raceway integration, and low-voltage checkouts have begun bringing together avionics boxes and flight software on the vehicle. Stage one qualification article welding is complete with the final circumferential friction stir weld finished. In propulsion, all first stage Aeon R engines for flight one have been manufactured, assembled and shipped. Second stage hardware-in-the-loop build is complete and software run-for-record testing began. At NASA Stennis, full-duration mission duty cycles were run on the second stage Aeon V engine.
