Florida Today reported that the first phase of Relativity Space's expansion in Brevard County, Florida - previously known by the code name Project Forge - involves a total capital investment of $565 million and is projected to create 590 new jobs at average salaries of $86,000. The expansion covers a new Terran R factory plus expanded test and launch infrastructure at Cape Canaveral, where Relativity Space plans to launch Terran R from Launch Complex 16. The report follows an earlier agreement struck with Space Florida, reported by SpaceNews in July 2026, to expand Terran R production in the state.

On 25 Aug 2026 SpaceX announced a $100 billion investment to build its largest rocket launch facility yet in Vermilion Parish, southern Louisiana, announced jointly with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. Louisiana Economic Development states SpaceX "will invest $100 billion to build its largest launch facility in Vermilion Parish, a spaceport designed to support" high-cadence operations; CNBC reports the site will be called "Starbase, LA" and will "support thousands of launches annually". Reuters describes it as "a $100 billion effort" to build "its largest rocket launch complex yet". Local reporting (WBRZ) says construction begins in 2027. Material as one of the largest single private infrastructure commitments ever announced, establishing a second Starship base beyond Starbase in Texas and materially expanding SpaceX's launch-cadence ceiling.

Intuitive Machines was selected to provide the spacecraft platform and mission solutions for NASA's EAGLE-VSWIR Earth science mission - an extension of the company's spacecraft-production business, built on the Lanteris platforms, beyond lunar and national security work into Earth observation.

The U.S. Space Force awarded Rocket Lab $397M under the Space-Based Airborne Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) program to develop, launch and operate its Flatellite spacecraft — part of a broader $615M award split across three vendors. The multi-launch deal includes dedicated missions across Neutron and Electron rockets, marking a significant government backlog win and validation of Rocket Lab's flat-satellite design for defense constellations.

The U.S. Space Force awarded SpaceX two task orders totaling $1.6 billion for 18 Falcon 9 launches supporting the Space Based Sensing and Targeting (SBST) constellation through 2027 — the largest publicly disclosed order under NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1. It makes SpaceX the sole launch provider for this Golden Dome-linked missile-tracking layer, deepening its national-security launch backlog.

Space Systems Command added Impulse Space and Relativity Space to the NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 contract, each receiving a $5M firm-fixed-price task order to develop mission-assurance approaches. Both can now compete against SpaceX, Blue Origin, ULA, Rocket Lab and Stoke Space for future national-security launch missions.

Intuitive Machines was awarded an additional Commercial Lunar Payload Services lander contract under NASA's Moonbase programme - its sixth CLPS mission - for a standardized production lander, which the company frames as moving from bespoke missions to a high-volume lunar utility pipeline.

NASA awarded Rocket Lab (RKLB) three dedicated Electron launch missions beginning in 2027, a government contract win that lifted the stock 3-6% intraday. The award came the same day Rocket Lab completed its 10th consecutive Electron mission for Japan's Synspective, deploying the StriX constellation's 10th satellite (Rocket Lab's 91st launch overall).

Lunar Outpost was awarded a $220 million contract to build a lunar terrain vehicle.

NASA contracted Intuitive Machines as prime for two lunar reconnaissance awards - the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) and ShadowCam - putting the company in the lead on lunar imaging operations, data storage, data processing and analytics in support of NASA's Artemis and Moonbase initiatives as well as commercial lunar missions.
